This easy and wonderful walk starts in the small village of Teddington. It starts with a brief ascent then heads south around the side of the hill then gradually down to Oxenton parish church, a very tranquil spot indeed. The name Oxenton originated from the use of the upper hill for ox-pasture. Once we pass the idyllic churchyard we head on up farm tracks to the earthworks of an ancient hill fort which is sat upon the oddly named crane hill, featuring views of Nottingham Hill, Cleeve Hill and the famous May Hill. Our journey home takes us through unspoiled farmland providing us with extensive views of the Cotswold escarpment on our right whilst we return back to Teddington.
